Debra's Equine Clicker Training Seminars:
Through hands-on learning, talks, demonstrations, questions and answers, video clips and working with your horse you will learn the Principles of Equine Clicker Training, with the emphasis on Safety First.
We first practice and learn the foundations lessons of targeting, backing, space management, head lowering, happy faces, and mat work. The foundation lessons are the building blocks for performance work. They become the emotional balancers and help to reinforce other behaviors. The more solid these behaviors are the easier it is to teach other behaviors.
We start with rehearsing the mechanical skills needed before we go to the horses so everyone gets to see what it feels like to the horse first. With developing clicker compatible rope handling skills we also get to feel what it is like at the other end of the line. These rehearsals are a great way to develop timing and feel and to see what is fair and effective when working with our horses. With breaking training down into baby steps the horse and human stay successful. This problem solving strategy empowers people to become their own trainer. It is great Fun for both horse and human!
General Guidelines1. Horses must be comfortable loading and traveling in a trailer. If you need help teaching your horse how to load and travel I can come to your horse's home to teach you how to teach your horse.
2. Is your horse comfortable in a stall? (We do have small pastures, but basic targeting and teaching the horse manners around food is started in a stall).
3. Bring a fanny pack, fishing vest, or jacket with deep pockets.
4. No sugar treats. Timothy grass hay pellets are good.
5. Bring a notepad. What you need to be successful with clicker training is information.
6. Boots.
7. Helmets required if riding.

Thank you!
The horses thank you too!
Debra is also available for private lessons at $40.00 per hour.
Travel fees apply if she goes to your place for privates or seminars.
Debra takes on one horse client at a time for training. They come live with her and Magic and together they teach your horse. Magic demos the behavior for your horse and since horses learn by watching, it helps the learning process. The fee is $42.00 per day, which includes full care, stall, pasture turn out and one hour of training per day.
The training is usually broken up into a number of little sessions, so the horse has time to process the material. It is required that the person be involved with the training process at least once a week, however, more is better. Attending a two day seminar first would be the ideal....for we are training the human too!
For the horses sake, keep them on their own hay and bring their water buckets, supplements, etc...
Sorry, no stallions.
